DR JAY WIPER – BIO

Dr Jay Wiper is the Director of the Plastic Surgery Unit and Consultant Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon in the Princess Alexandra Hospital, Brisbane with a specialist interest in all types of skin cancer & general plastic surgery. He undertakes a wide range of complex microsurgical reconstructive procedures for both Head & Neck cancer and complex trauma. He is the lead for the award winning Skin Lesion & Assessment Management (SLAM) service.

Dr Wiper graduated medicine from the University of Leeds, United Kingdom in 2001. He was first appointed as a Consultant Plastic Surgeon in Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust in 2013. He lead the Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery service for one of the largest Major Trauma Centres (MTC) in the United Kingdom, and was an Examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.

Dr Wiper has completed two microsurgical fellowships including a Head & Neck Fellowships and holds full board specialist qualifications for Plastic Surgery in both the United Kingdom and Australia. He is a member of Australian Plastic Surgery Society (ASPS) and British Association of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeons (BAPRAS).

Dr Wiper is frequently invited to lecture and teach in reconstructive techniques both nationally and internationally and is actively involved in teaching Surgical Registrars and is the current RACS SET Supervisor at the Princess Alexandra Hospital. He is patient centered professional and aims to deliver high quality, timely care.

Fellowship of The Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS Plastic) – The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh – 2012.

British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS) – The Royal College of Surgeons of England – 2016.

Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS Plast) – Royal Australasian College of Surgeons – 2020.
